Whenever you add a domain as hosted in some account, you normally set a pair of Name Servers to point it to that specific provider. On their end, three records are created automatically as soon as the domain address is added - one A record and two MX records. The first one is a numeric address, or IP address, that “tells” the domain where its website is, while the other two are alphanumeric and they indicate the server that deals with the e-mails for that particular domain. The website and the email hosting are generally perceived as one thing, while they're actually two different services. Having independent records for them will allow you to have them with different companies if you would like. As an illustration, some new provider might have excellent uptime for your website, but you might not want to switch your e-mails from your current host and by using an A record to point the domain to the former and MX records to have the e-mails with the second, you can get the best of both providers. These records are checked when you wish to open a website or send an email - in either case, the company whose name servers are used for the Internet domain will be contacted to retrieve the A and MX records and if you have set records different from their own, the correct web/mail server will then be contacted and you're going to see the needed website or your email is going to be delivered.

Custom MX and A Records in Shared Hosting

The Hepsia hosting Control Panel, which comes with each and every shared hosting that we offer, will enable you to view, modify and create A and MX records for every domain or subdomain in your account. Through the DNS Records section, you're going to be able to see a list of all hosts within the account in alphabetical order with their corresponding records, so any update won't take you more than a couple of clicks. Creating new records is as easy if, for instance, you would like to use the email services of a different company and they ask you to create more MX records than the default 2. You can even set the priority for each MX record by setting different latency. In other words, when your emails are delivered, the sending server will contact the record with the smallest latency first and if the connection times out, it will contact the next one. Using our innovative tool, you'll be able to control the records of your domains and subdomains with ease even if you have no prior experience with such matters.

Custom MX and A Records in Semi-dedicated Servers

Accessing and editing the A or MX records for each of your domain addresses or subdomains is very easy if you buy a semi-dedicated server plan from our company. The accounts are handled through our in-house built Hepsia Control Panel, which includes a section dedicated to the DNS records of your domain addresses. The latter will be listed alphabetically and you can click on every one of them to see both the A and the MX records. Changing any record is as simple as typing in the new one in a text box and saving the change, so even if you have never dealt with such matters before, you'll not experience any difficulties if you want to switch your site or e-mails to a different company while keeping the second service with our company. If necessary, you could also set up additional MX records and set a certain priority based on the instructions of the new provider.
